Manic Street Preachers to "disappear for quite a long time" after 'Best Of' album...

Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire has told NME the band are set to go on a hiatus following the release of their forthcoming greatest hits compilation 'National Treasures – The Complete Singles'.

Speaking backstage at this weekend's V Festival he said the band are set to embark on a long break after their second 'Best Of' collection is released in October.

He said:

"It's the end of an era, not the end of the band but we're going to disappear for quite a long time."

Wire confirmed that the band will continue working on their new album '70 Songs Of Hatred And Failure' but it will be sometime before they resurface.

He added:

"Ideally we have to push ourselves to do something that we haven't done before. But I do feel it is going to be at least two or three years before we come back after this greatest hits collection."
