INTRODUCING: Johnny 5th Wheel And The Cowards

Introducing the brand new double A side single from Johnny 5th Wheel And The Cowards, 'Nancy' and 'In My Laboratory'... The band are currently working on their second album which will be out in September 2012.Scroll down to watch videos for both tracks.

"The idea is to create magical pop music that makes you feel happy to be alive. There are no generic limitations." Hailing from the North West of England, the band describe their sound as: "Skiffle, Acoustic, Music Hall but mainly just Pop Music..." and list their influences as Love, Scott Walker, Josephine Baker, Tom Waits, Anthony Newley, Louis Prima, Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Leadbelly, Harry Nilson, The Magnetic Fields, SFA, Pavement, The Flaming Lips and The Beakles (although I'm sure they meant The Beatles)

Formed at the end of 2009, Johnny5thWheel&thecowards was two men and a lot of friends trying something completely different. More of a collective than a band, it allowed for a greater freedom of sound and experimentation.

In 2010 released their limited editon hand-crafted E.P. containing 'Brotherly Love', 'O My Soul', 'I've Got A Secret' and 'Following The Wheel [Part III]'. In October of 2010 they scraped together some money and self-released the debut album entitled 'TalesOf...Johnny5thWheel&thecowards' to positive reviews being called a "work of genius" and regularly receiving 5 stars.

It was eventually voted in the Top 50 albums released that year by the God Is In The TV webzine. This was followed by some successful festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Beat-Herder. The band have since signed to Sotones Records and released two single 'Spike' and 'Where Did I Sleep Last Night?' with their second album due out in September of 2012.

"Johnny5thWheel&thecowards have crafted one of the finest folk-pop records I've heard all year, stuffed with imagination in its careful construction of the familiar and the oddball into a consistent record of bittersweet, broken-hearted, stirring and occasionally rather funny songs that all compliment one another perfectly... A charming, witty and superb album. 5/5" - God Is In The T.V. Zine

"Clever. Inventive. Quirky. Stark raving bonkers." - Unplug The Jukebox

"At the very least, this is truly bizarre music. I really don’t have the words or the depth of knowledge to adequately describe this work." - Heroes Of Indie Music
