INTRODUCING: Tingle In The Netherlands

Tingle In The Netherlands are "an absurdist electro-pop" collaboration between poet Helên T and electronic musician Owen J. Their first EP, 'Prostitute's Handbag' was released in 2010, as was the download-only single 'The Housewife's Lament' (a lovely little song about a woman having sex with the milkman). If you're not into songs about whores, intergalactic caretakers or perverted horror stories then it's clearly best to avoid these songs.

However if you're looking for this type of thing and you'd like to hear it set to some brilliantly dark electro-pop melodies, then Tingle In The Netherlands are probably just the thing you want.

The title track of the 'Prostitute's Handbag' EP sounds like a sleazy Kraftwerk, complete with the priceless lyric "made in China, bought with vagina". It's the sort of thing you're either going to love or hate, for sure it's not the sort of average fare that will have you thinking "it's ok I suppose". A debut full length album is expected later this year and will be available through Nerve Echo records, a label which is also run by Owen J.

Their music has been described by one person as sounding like "a sort of freaky acid trip where a crack addled Sarah Brightman sings in your ear at a party in 1984" and like "the resulting lovechild of a lime Jelly Orgy with Giorgio Moroder, Vince Clarke and Percy Bysshe Shelley."
