SONG FOR TODAY: Young MC - Know How

So a tune that I've been familiar with since I found it on an old skool hip hop compilation back in the late 90's. But it was only the other night while listening to a BBC 6Music show that was themed around The Stone Roses that I realised this track's influence on 'Fool's Gold'. Just listen to that bassline and you'll know what I mean...

The song was taken from 'Stone Cold Rhymin'', the rapper Young MC's debut album. It was originally released in 1989 on Delicious Vinyl and was later re-issued by Rhino Records. Young MC's real name is Marvin Young, born May 10 1967. The English-born American singer, rapper and actor is best known for his 1989 hit "Bust a Move". His debut album Stone Cold Rhymin' found international acclaim however subsequent albums have not reached the same level of success. Young has also appeared in film in acting roles and cameo appearances, and has appeared in several television programs. His family left England and moved to Queens, New York when he was eight years old.
